Vivekananda Kendra a spiritually oriented service mission.

Swami Vivekananda, with love in his heart for motherland undertook wonderings all over India. He came to Kanyakumari and sat on 25th, 26th,and 27th December 1892 on the mid-sea rock meditating on India's past, present and future.

It was on this rock that he discovered the mission for glorious India and later shook the world by India's spirituality. On this sanctified place Late Mananeeya Ekanthji Ranade, with the participation of millions of people of India constructed the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, which symbolizes the glorious mission of India as seen by Swami Vivekananda in his meditation. Millions of people visit this monument and two permanent Exhibitions- "Arise Awake" and "The wandering work" based on the life and message of swami Vivekananda at Kanyakumari and get inspired to work for nation.

Along with this memorial, Shri Eknathji ranade founded Vivekananda Kendra a spiritually oriented service mission which reflects Swami Vivekananda's vision of glorious India in action. Vivekananda Kendra calls upon those youth who can dedicate their life for serving the nation.

Karyapaddhati : Mode of Work

Vivekananda Kendra had adopted the methodology of regularly conducting classes-Bal Samskar Vargas, Swadhyaya Vargas and Yoga Vargas - for different layers of society so as to awaken it towards the challenges it faces in organized way.

Through Karyapaddhati the awareness of the need of organized work for the regeneraton of nation is generated. This energy is channelised to undertake a number of activities to actualize Swami Vivekananda's vision of Jagadguru Bharat.

  • Over 45 Vidyalayas for tribal and rural children in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Assam, Andmans, Tamilnadu and Karnatak.
  • Hostel for Vanavasi Children.
  • 150 Balwadies all over the country.
  • Running of Non-formal school for preservation of Vedic Vidyas.
  • Personality Development Camps for the children.
  • Youth Camps to motivate them to lead purposeful life.
  • Cultural Examinations to increase the awareness in students about the greatness as well as relevance of Indian culture.
  • Non-formal Education through Audio-visuals.
  • Matru Sammelan and Women Awareness Camps for tribal women to motivate them to lead purposeful life.

  • Amrita Surabhi Daily offering of handful rice by women, which is collected to feed around 12,000 poor rural children.
